Enjoy a 60-90 minute tractor-led haywagon tour of Dr. King's Farms, nestled amidst the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Tours must be booked 24 hours in advance.
Dr. King’s Farms is truly “the land where the buffalo roam” – and much, much more! The farm tour takes place on a 160-acre tract in Leicester, NC just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, which represents a modest portion of Dr. King’s Farms almost 500 acres. The farm is home for American Buffalo (Bison), the rare white bison, African Watusi, north American elk, Himalayan Yak and deer. Animals are raise on top-quality grasses and pure mountain water as they graze freely in the open pastures, surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
- Please arrive by 9:45, yet no earlier than 9:20 (our farm team is busy with the animals before that).
- The tours are conducted from 356 Ridgeview Rd, NOT from 3 Westside Drive.
- The haywagon promptly leaves the farm gate area at 10:00, so latecomers cannot be accommodated after this.
- Spend some time petting/feeding our watusi and our buffalo.
- Be seated on our custom tractor-led hay wagon and experience up-close-and-personal connection with Bison and African Watusi.
- View our deer and elk in their natural habitat
Use your judgment in considering the weather – you will be in the great outdoors for up to 2 hours. Some suggestions include:
- Raincoat and/or jacket (mornings can get windy on the farm)
- Sunscreen and hats as needed
- Filled water bottle (please stay hydrated!)
- A cooler with ice, so you can bring home purchases of frozen meat from our store
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Cellphone service is reliable on the farm, if necessary to use them

- Cost for Senior Citizens (ages 60+): $11.00
- Cost for Children (ages 2-12): $11.00
- Free for children under 2 years.
- SPECIAL OFFER: Any guest who purchases $300 or more of meats from our farm store receives either 2 free new tour tickets OR a credit worth the price of 2 tour tickets.
- Tours will be conducted rain-or-shine unless conditions are deemed dangerous. If this occurs, our farm team personnel will contact you by 8:00 on the morning of the tour if it needs to be cancelled.
- Cancellations on guests part must be received either by phone or email no later than 8:00 on the day before your tour in order to process a refund.
